The position of Lead Safety Assurance and Training Officer focuses on maintaining and promoting a safe operational environment through structured training, audits, and compliance monitoring.
About the Role
The Lead Safety Assurance and Training Officer is responsible for supporting the development and ongoing implementation of the Airport Safety Management System (SMS). This includes monitoring safety performance, ensuring compliance with regulations, and promoting a strong safety culture across airside operations.
This role combines technical expertise with training leadership. You will be actively involved in conducting safety audits, designing safety programs, and delivering structured training to airport staff at all levels.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Oversight and Reporting
- Support safety assurance and promotion activities across airport operations.
- Prepare management reports and presentations on airside safety performance and trends.
- Assist with updating departmental safety manuals and operational procedures.
Training Development and Delivery
- Identify training needs and lead the implementation of safety and proficiency systems.
- Design and deliver training on safety awareness, SMS fundamentals, change management, and airside driving.
- Certify airport personnel through airside driving programs and retraining initiatives.
Safety Promotion and Culture
- Plan and execute airport-wide safety awareness campaigns and educational initiatives.
- Develop engaging materials, including safety newsletters and guides.
- Promote learning from incidents by sharing case studies and best practices.
Regulatory Coordination and Stakeholder Audits
- Work closely with the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) on aerodrome certification matters.
- Participate in internal and external safety audits involving third-party stakeholders and airport tenants.
Performance Monitoring and Change Management
- Track and evaluate safety performance indicators.
- Support the implementation of change management processes related to operational safety.
Candidate Profile
This role is best suited for experienced professionals in aviation safety and training, with a strong understanding of airside operations and regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years in aviation, particularly in airside safety, operations, or training.
- Strong understanding of airside safety procedures and compliance frameworks.
- Proven experience in classroom and online safety training.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in Airport Safety Management Systems (SMS).
- Train-the-Trainer certification.
- Experience in large-scale airport safety campaigns.
- Radio Telephony Certificate (an advantage).
