Shape the Future of Cybersecurity at AACU
This role plays a vital function within the Information Security department, focusing on the oversight and governance of the Patch and Vulnerability Management (PVM) program. You’ll track security risks, facilitate steering committees, and ensure alignment with regulatory frameworks, helping American Airlines maintain a secure and compliant operational environment.
Responsibilities You’ll Own
Governance and Risk Oversight
- Develop dashboards and visual reports to evaluate PVM performance.
- Lead committee sessions to review, prioritize, and align patching with compliance standards.
- Monitor aging vulnerabilities, working cross-functionally to escalate or resolve issues.
Security Policy and Regulatory Support
- Assist in updating internal policies and procedures related to patch and vulnerability governance.
- Stay informed about new regulations (PCI, NCUA, FFIEC, etc.) and their operational implications.
- Support audit efforts by providing clear documentation and compliance evidence.
Operational Security Tasks
- Analyze system logs for unauthorized access or anomalies.
- Conduct risk assessments, security configuration reviews, and DR/BCP planning.
- Respond to support tickets, triage incidents, and provide follow-up analysis.
Security Awareness and Communication
- Promote internal cybersecurity awareness (e.g., phishing simulations, training).
- Communicate risk insights and incident reports clearly to internal stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate documentation for security processes and issue tracking.
What You’ll Bring
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, IT, or a related field OR two years of progressive experience in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of patch management tools, vulnerability scanning, and risk prioritization.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks like NIST, ISO/IEC 27001, and COBIT.
Preferred Credentials
- Certifications such as CISSP, CISA, MCITP, or GIAC.
- Experience in two or more domains like antivirus protection, LDAP systems, Active Directory, intrusion detection, or SQL/Exchange server security.
Skills You Should Have
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).
- Strong analytical, communication, and project coordination skills.
