Key Responsibilities of Regional Manager Jobs at Cargo Services
Operational Leadership & Compliance
In this role, you’ll have full accountability for maintaining the highest cargo service standards while driving efficiency. Your main duties include:
- Monitoring and enhancing operational performance across all regional locations.
- Ensuring compliance with American Airlines’ cargo handling protocols, security regulations, and local laws.
- Coordinating with vendors to deliver superior service for all cargo types including mail, live animals, and specialty items.
- Managing budgets and resource allocations efficiently.
- Conducting regular site visits and audits to assess compliance and resolve issues.
- Leading meetings and maintaining continuous communication with internal teams and external partners.
Reporting, Systems & Business Continuity
- Reviewing American Airlines Cargo systems for performance and compliance insights.
- Providing timely reports to senior leadership regarding any safety, security, or dangerous goods (DG) incidents.
- Implementing business continuity plans for cargo facilities to mitigate disruptions.
- Promoting best practices and ensuring regional facilities meet evolving customer demands.
Qualifications for Success
Basic Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience/training.
- Minimum of 5 years of compliance or regulatory experience, with at least 3 years in a management role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual in Spanish is required.
- Proven leadership in cargo or freight management environments.
- Willingness to travel up to 90% of the time.
- Experience collaborating with third-party vendors or outsourced operations.
Essential Skills
- Strong leadership and team development skills.
- Effective communication and decision-making abilities.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
