About the Role – Corporate Security Program Manager
As a Program Manager, Corporate Security, you will be a vital member of the Corporate Affairs Team under the Government Affairs Division. Your primary focus will be managing various critical security programs such as Cargo Security, Catering Security, Audit Compliance, C-TPAT, and Government Facilitation efforts. You will partner with internal departments to ensure regulatory compliance, policy development, and security program effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the oversight of assigned security programs with a rotational approach based on leadership priorities.
- Develop, maintain, and audit security programs and training in alignment with U.S. and international regulations.
- Interpret and apply regulatory frameworks from customs, immigration, and border protection authorities.
- Liaise with internal departments to implement new regulatory changes effectively.
- Maintain strong communication with regulatory agencies and industry associations.
- Conduct on-site visits and audits to ensure adherence to aviation security protocols.
- Manage investigations into compliance breaches and draft mitigation plans and formal reports.
- Analyze performance data and generate actionable insights for risk mitigation and process improvement.
- Represent American Airlines in trade associations and regulatory forums such as IATA, A4A, ATAC, and others.
- Prepare and present program updates to senior leadership.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in the aviation or transportation security industry.
- 3+ years of experience working with regulatory frameworks.
- 2+ years of experience in project or program management.
- Demonstrated experience in policy development and interdepartmental coordination.
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience interpreting global customs and immigration laws is a plus.
- Strong understanding of enterprise-wide compliance programs.
Skills & Competencies
- Proficient in regulatory analysis, risk management, and compliance auditing.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills under tight deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities, including negotiation and policy drafting.
- Ability to work across departments and levels, maintaining stakeholder engagement.
- Capacity to manage urgent operational issues with minimal notice.
