What Does a Ground Service Agent Do?

The Ground Service Agent role is a dynamic, physical, and essential position at the airport. You’ll work directly on the ramp and behind the scenes, keeping operations smooth for every flight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Load and unload baggage, cargo, and mail.
  • Deliver critical documents like load plans, fuel slips, and cargo manifests to flight crews.
  • Guide aircraft during arrival and departure using marshalling signals.
  • Operate ramp equipment including tugs, belt-loaders, deicing trucks, and more.
  • Prepare and verify weight and balance forms for flight safety.
  • Perform aircraft grooming, potable water replenishment, lavatory servicing, and security searches.
  • Tow aircraft as needed.
  • Ensure all tasks are completed following safety protocols and within time constraints.

What You’ll Need to Qualify

This role is open to applicants who meet the following requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license issued by a U.S. state or territory
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly and work on your feet
  • Capable of bending, squatting, reaching, and performing physical labor
  • Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal)
  • Comfortable with basic math
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Able to participate in paid training, possibly requiring overnight travel
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be able to obtain airport security clearance (SIDA badge) and USPS Mail Certification
